Nyadak Pal Peace Foundation launched a Digital Navigation program in 2024 as a
partner with the “The Learning Source.” Now we are independent!
NPPF is a member of the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) and partner with PRIDE INITIATIVE (Vocational Opportunity School) thru Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. NPPF is also a partner with The Immigrant Center in Denver, Colorado.
NPPF has made significant strides in improving digital literacy within the African immigrant communities of Colorado.
What is Digital Literacy?
The ability and knowledge needed to access and operate internet-connected devices, to successfully use commonly available software, and to navigate and utilize online resources in order to effectively communicate ad complete social work-related tasks in a virtual space. Literacy Minnesota

What is Digital Navigator?
A digital navigator is a tutor, mentor and guide who can assist an individual in navigating and learning about digital skills and computers/devices/internet. This is informal education allows individuals to become more knowledgeable, confident, autonomous, and better prepared to participate in today’s technology’s technology-centered society
The focus of digital navigation is to provide community support for learning digital skills. They help individuals navigate technology so that they may develop their own resilience and knowledge base. The point of their service is to teach someone and guide someone, not do something for them or fix something for them.
What Do Nyadak Pal Peace Foundation do?
Our program reaches out to our second generation African immigrants/young
People who are able to reach and teach the first generation (Elderly/Seniors) who are not so well acquainted with digital skills. It is what we call the “The Two Generational Family Approach.”
Services we offer are:
- Basic Computer and Phone skills
- Email and internet usage
- Digital Job skills support
- Assistance with internet and devices access
Training and Support: Provided training in basic computer, Phone, internet, and email skills, available in English and other languages upon request.
Partnerships and Outreach: Partnered with New American Immigration Office, Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, Pride Initiative, The Immigrant Center and MSU Advance Manufacturing Institute.

Preamble:
First generation African immigrants need digital literacy “to access and provide internet-connected devices, to successfully use commonly available software and to navigate and utilize online resources in order to effectively communicate and complete social and work-related tasks in a virtual space.
Increasingly, African immigrant community seniors need digital skills for everyday activities such as making appointments online, apply for healthcare benefits, Social Security issues, Veteran needs as well and so many others needs.
Support coaching and mentoring for Adult learners to strengthen and improve outcomes and learning retention. “Lack of access to technology and foundational digital skills training locks many people out of opportunities, with considerable cost to them and our wider society.”
Language Justice is a branch of social justice that advocates for the right of every person to communicate, understand, and be understood in their preferred language. It aims to create multilingual spaces where language isn’t a barrier to participation and power dynamics are equalized.
NP Peace Foundation is committed to engaging, educating and empowering individuals, fostering digital access, and creating lasting opportunities for learning and workforce success.
Our program has had a profound impact on the daily lives of the people we’ve served, enabling them to participate more fully in society and access vital resources that were previously out of reach.
We are making a difference in the ESL Classes, Navigating Online learning experience and staying ahead of the curve in student engagement.
